wereld obesitas dag

Last March 4th marked World Obesity Day. A moment when many people pause to reflect on their health.

But what about after that?
Then life often just goes on as it was.

And that is exactly where the problem lies.

You know that something needs to change… but still, it doesn't happen.

You might recognize this:

  • You notice that your energy is decreasing.
  • Your body changes.
  • You are arriving slowly.
  • You don't feel as comfortable in your own skin.

And yet you put it off.

  • Because you are busy.
  • Because you don't know exactly where to start.
  • Or because you think you can pick it up yourself.

The problem is bigger than you think.

What many people do not realize is that this is not only a personal problem, but also a growing societal problem.

Being overweight and obesity cause enormous costs in our society. Consider rising healthcare costs, increased absenteeism, and a lower quality of life. And if this trend continues, that problem will only get bigger.

Nutrition scientist Jaap Seidell recently stated on Buitenhof that obesity is strongly on the rise worldwide. According to him, this is not simply due to a lack of discipline, but to a combination of our natural tendency to overeat and a food system that actually makes unhealthy choices easy.

In his book Limits to Greed, he describes what is needed to reverse this trend. The conversation can be found on YouTube.

Why it often fails

Not because you lack discipline.

But because you:
– don't know exactly what to do
– is unsure about food and quantities
– have no structure that suits your life
– trying to keep it up alone

And then you fall back into old patterns.

What happens in your body in the meantime

Without you immediately noticing:

  • Your metabolism slows down
  • Storing fat becomes easier
  • Muscle mass decreases
  • Your energy drops
  • Symptoms build up slowly

Until the moment you think: “Now I really have to do something.”

But then you actually started too late.

The good news: you can reverse this.

With the right guidance, you can:

✔ Lose fat and visibly change your body
✔ regain energy during the day
✔ feel fitter, stronger, and more confident
✔ prevent or reduce complaints

But then you have to stop trying it yourself all the time.

This is where the difference lies

At RWIJK GYM, since 2010, we have been guiding people who have little time but still want results.

With a combination of personal trainingThrough lifestyle and nutrition coaching and medically sound guidance, we ensure structure, clarity, and results.

Without your entire life having to revolve around sports.

The reality: doing nothing is going backwards

Your body adapts to what you do every day.

So if nothing changes… nothing changes.

Or worse: it is slowly diminishing.

The question is simple.

Are you going to postpone this for months (or years)...
Or do you choose to tackle it properly now?
