What is the influence of breakfast on weight loss and/or gain?
Breakfast has little to no influence on how much weight you lose or gain. This is because you can slimming down or gain weight with 2, 4, or 8 meals a day. The energy balance is always the determining factor here, meaning the kilocalories you consume compared to the kilocalories you burn. Do note, however, that if you skip breakfast, you should not eat more later in the morning or at lunch due to hunger, or notice that if unhealthy products such as sweets, pastries, snacks, etc. are offered, you are more inclined to take them anyway.
Breakfast and daily habits
The reason some people eat breakfast and others don't is because it is, or has become, a habit. A person might wake up hungry and then have breakfast because the body is used to it. Conversely, a person might not have breakfast until 11:00 and only drink a coffee or tea after getting up.
Physical energy
Energy refers to the energy you need to get through the entire day. Physical energy is determined by a person's physique and their activity/lifestyle patterns. Several elements influence this, such as: physique, sleep, stress, type of work, and sport.
Make adjustments to your habits
So your power supply The entire week influences your energy and behavior. Your body does not recover in a single day, but needs several days to make up for high calorie deficits through food. Therefore, keep in mind that eating less for one day or paying attention to what you eat and drink will not have a significant impact if you want to lose weight; it is about making adjustments over a longer period. And preferably lasting adjustments to ensure you do not relapse. It is about making adjustments to your diet/habits that yield results but are also sustainable in the long term.
Breakfast and sports
If you plan to exercise at 9:00, it is advisable for many to have breakfast beforehand. How long in advance you can eat is a personal matter, but use approximately 90 minutes to 2 hours as a guideline. If the meal is less heavy on the stomach, it can often be consumed closer to your workout. Exercising requires more energy from your body, and if your stored energy runs out, you may experience dizziness while working out. Therefore, ensure you have eaten well or sufficiently before exercising. However, this does not apply to everyone!
Don't worry!
Breakfast is therefore only a small part of a much bigger picture. Don't place too much emphasis on one meal, but rather on your entire dietary pattern—and not just for one day, but over a longer period. After all, Rome wasn't built in a day!
