If you notice that your lifestyle is ready for a change, read what you can do yourself to bring about this change. To improve your lifestyle (eating habits, daily exercise, sleep, stress, managing your schedule (work and private), workouts, etc.), it is necessary to be consistent in those areas. To be able to do this, you first need insight.
What are your lifestyle habits, and how do they influence the direction you are heading?
Because we are busy with a great many things these days (and often simultaneously), we no longer register matters properly. Our memory quite often fails us in this regard, especially since we are frequently dealing with habitual behavior. We do not register, or register less effectively, behavior that we are no longer aware of.
Why are we not aware of habits?
Habits bypass the conscious decision-making process, so we expend less energy and can therefore invest our energy in decision-making processes for which we are unprepared or have little experience. To give your memory a helping hand, you can fill out a lifestyle diary. This will help you see to what extent you are achieving your goals, or where your pitfalls lie. You can use this lifestyle diary to track your habits regarding exercise, computer use, watching TV, power supplyto make sleep, sports, daily movement, and stress visible. By keeping track of everything properly, you gain insight into your lifestyle. Subsequently, you can look at which habits you feel need to change.
In the image above, you can see our own Lifestyle diary, which we use to guide our members. In addition to personal training All our members are also coached on their lifestyle. By making better choices in their daily lives alongside the two weekly sports sessions with us, we see that the set goals are achieved faster and are actually realized. The focus differs for each member. For one, the biggest challenge lies in their diet, and for another, in the lake, or sleep better.
Of course, you can also keep track of this yourself in a notebook if you prefer writing rather than using an app or the computer.
Assignment: Keep your own Lifestyle diary
You can download a FREE blank diary page via this link.Print out this blank diary 7 times: one for each day of the week. Place or hang the diary in a place you visit often. Fill it in daily at the end of the day for the next day, or in the morning for that day. So, preferably do this beforehand, not afterwards. Making agreements with yourself in advance works better than doing them afterwards. If you have entered it correctly for 7 days, and if you have met your lifestyle goals for that week, reward yourself with something nice!
