
The office is not always the easiest environment for a healthy lifestyle. Colleagues bring treats for their birthdays, and there might even be a candy jar on the counter. If you work at the office all day, you might walk to another department once in a while or grab a cup of coffee. As a result, you won't reach the recommended number of steps on an average day.
With our tips, you can easily move more during a workday!
- Get off one stop earlier or park your car further away from the office.
- Take a walk during your lunch break. Highly recommended, especially when the weather is nice. Before you know it, you will have taken 4,000 more steps.
- Drink enough water. Get something to drink for yourself and your colleagues more often.
- Go to the toilet on another floor or make your copies there. In that case, of course, take the stairs.
- Do not remain seated while on the phone. Stand up and walk around a bit. You can also read email on a tablet or phone while walking.
- Put your workout clothes in the car in advance, so you can head straight to the gym after work. When you get home afterwards, you can collapse on the couch with peace of mind.
- Make sure you always have responsible food and healthy snacks with you to prevent binge eating or reaching for the candy jar too often. Good preparation is half the battle!
