Al 7 jaar met veel plezier een Personal Trainer!

A personal trainer, isn't that something for celebrities? That would have been my laughing reaction over 7 years ago. By now, I know better!

Something had to change

Due to problems with my ankle, I hadn't done any sports for years. In fact, I had never even set foot inside a gym. Ballroom dancing and majorettes used to be my thing. Yet, the moment came when I decided that something had to change. In April 2012, I mustered the courage and filled out the form on the HealthCoachPlus website for a free intake interview. The next day I received a call and we scheduled the appointment.

May 6, 2012: deathly nervous on my way to my first PT session…

During the intake interview, there was plenty of time for me. What I could and couldn't do, but especially what I wanted to achieve. A combination of Personal Training And nutritional advice was the advice. So, on May 6, 2012, I set off for my first PT session, dead nervous…

First results visible quickly

In the beginning, I mostly kept it to myself that I had started Personal Training. It was as if I was ashamed of it, afraid of the possible disapproving reactions from the people around me. Soon, the first results became visible: I lost weight and got fitter! Gradually, I dared to tell family and friends that I had started PT. Yes, I had my own Personal Trainer!

Healthy eating, Personal Training, working out on your own and Bootcamp

My life suddenly revolved around sports, and I enjoyed it! Healthy eating became part of my lifestyle; it wasn't a diet. In addition to 2 Personal Training sessions, I worked out on my own at least once a week. At some point, I got to join Bootcamp, something I had been looking forward to for a long time. Working out outdoors with a group of motivated people who all wanted to push themselves to the limit; I really wanted to be a part of that!

Exercising during pregnancy

In September 2014, my Personal Trainer was one of the first people I told that I was pregnant. The new goal soon became clear: to continue exercising for as long as possible. I discussed how I was feeling during every class. The workout was adjusted to what I could handle that day. And yes, no matter how miserable I felt because of my pregnancy, I went to my training with pleasure. In the end, I turned out to be fit enough to join a few bootcamp sessions after more than 30 weeks of pregnancy!

New sports rhythm

After the birth of my daughter, I resumed exercising as soon as the gynecologist allowed it. It soon became apparent that “my workout routine” no longer fit within the new family situation. I had other priorities: not exercising, but my family came first.
What I want and what is realistic still comes up regularly during my training sessions. One thing did become clear quickly, however: one hour of personal training per week is firmly in the schedule.

Changed not only physically, but also mentally

Over time, we have already been able to tick off quite a few goals, including losing weight, getting fitter, boot camp, and running. The exercising, nutritional advice And the mental coaching have not only led to physical change, but especially to mental change. I have become more assertive and dare to stand up for myself more easily. I feel more comfortable in my own skin and am much more self-confident.

After 7 years, I still enjoy going to my training.

Of course, things don't always go smoothly. Over the years, priorities change, making it harder to achieve previously attained goals. But that one hour of PT a week is precisely what I still look forward to after 7 years! Besides responsibly working up a sweat, it is also nice to have someone who advises you on your lifestyle and helps you set realistic goals. A trainer who keeps me fit not only physically but also mentally.

A Personal Trainer is not just for celebrities

Yes, my opinion is clear by now: a Personal Trainer isn't just for celebrities. I absolutely recommend a Personal Trainer from HealthCoachPlus to anyone who wants to work on themselves!07
