Together, we have the responsibility to keep people moving!

Last month was a bit tense after we received a visit from the Inspectorate and Enforcement. We thought we had discussed everything in good consultation with the Municipality of Rijswijk, but the inspector stated that he knew nothing about it and believed that what we were doing (allowing members to train independently) was not permitted.

We subsequently resubmitted all the guidelines set by VWS / NOC NSF and NL Aktief to the municipality, and after waiting in suspense for one day, we received the relieving news that what we had previously (thought) had received approval for was approved.

See below for a brief overview of the points of importance (guidelines) that NOC NSF indicates on its website regarding outdoor sports.https://nocnsf.nl/coronavirus-en-sport

NOC NSF: Outside Everyone aged eighteen and over may only exercise at a distance of one and a half meters and only individually or in a team of no more than two people. Competitions are not allowed, and canteens, showers, and changing rooms are closed.

How we do that at RWIJK GYM:

Our members train (exercise) only in their own marked spot. They do not exercise together or with multiple people at the same time. They do not attend group classes. There is also no group formation when arriving at and leaving our location. Upon arrival, they carry out their own program independently and then leave the location. The minimum distance of 1.5 m is guaranteed at all times. On our own grounds (parking deck) of 950 m², this is actually more than the minimum 1.5 m². You can compare outdoor exercise with us to what people do in the park, on a sports field, or elsewhere where people can do exercises.

NOC NSF: It remains important during sports activities that participants over the age of 18 maintain a distance of one and a half meters as much as possible before and after exercising, and that the hygiene regulations of the RIVM be complied with. In addition, the guidelines that you stay at home if you are sick or have a cold, or if someone in your household has tested positive for the coronavirus, must be adhered to.

How we do that at RWIJK GYM:

As indicated above, we comply with the guidelines stated above, with the added benefit that we personally strictly monitor compliance with these guidelines at all times. We also comply with the hygiene regulations specified by the RIVM. If anyone wishes to come to us to train (exercise) independently, they must first complete a questionnaire indicating that they are symptom-free. If they are not, this is not possible.

In the “Protocol for responsible sports”from NOC NSF about training outdoors with multiple small groups“Central Government Frameworks as of 23 January 2021 – General guidelines”the following is indicated:

– sports can be done individually or in groups of a maximum of 2 people. Multiple groups can exercise next to each other.

We have not received approval from our municipality for this. Measures are based on the nationally applicable measures, but a different decision may be made per municipality.
