I have now been training at RWIJK GYM in Rijswijk for 5 years.

Let me introduce myself; I am Jan Marc, 35 years old, and I have been training at RWIJK GYM in Rijswijk for 5 years now.
I ended up with Robert because I had been training independently at various gyms for 10 years, but because I have type 1 diabetes, I was no longer making progress in my training and achieving the results I wanted. I noticed that I didn't dare to push myself to the limit to get the most out of my workouts. This was because, as a diabetic, you can experience hypoglycemia, a dangerously low blood sugar level. This can cause you to lose consciousness, with all the associated consequences.

This had gone wrong a few times, and I didn't want that to happen again. That's why I started looking for a personal trainer with the necessary knowledge and skills who could help me with this, and look now, I have been training with great pleasure at and with the personal trainers of RWIJK GYM for 5 years already!

No “fear” of my diabetes and potential low blood sugars

Right from my first intake with Robert, it became clear that my diabetes was taken seriously at RWIJK GYM, but that the personal trainers were all well-trained and had no “fear” of my diabetes or potential low blood sugar. That gave me a sense of security, because that was exactly what I was looking for!

Take my fitness to the next level and get lean and match-fit within 2 years.

I started with twice a week group training to follow for an hour. At the time, I attended a group training session focused on strength training once a week and a boxing training session once a week. What a relief! Training safely and achieving great results, under professional guidance.

During the corona pandemic, there were initially no group training options for a while, and later modified ones, and then I started with personal training started. I have been doing this for over 2 years now and have just decided to sign on for another 2 years. I have decided to take my fitness to a new level and train to get lean first, and then see if I can also become match-fit.

I receive good guidance for my diabetes at the LUMC. My internist, Dr. de Koning, is also the sports internist for diabetics and is closely involved with the Bas van der Goor Foundation, among other things. In addition, I am also excellently supported by my diabetes nurse and dietitian.
For now, go get it! Keep training!
