When you want to lose weight, you will need to eat less than you need (negative energy balance). Sustainable weight loss is primarily about adopting good dietary and lifestyle habits that help you stick with it. This has proven to be a significant challenge for many of us, as eating behavior is influenced by many different factors.

Mindful eating

One of those factors has to do with eating mindfully. This is something we regularly neglect. We are distracted while eating by our phones or TV; we eat while on the go or at our desks while working or studying. The problem that arises is that you often unknowingly eat more than you need. Possible causes for this are eating and/or drinking too quickly and ignoring your satiety signals.

Mindful eating = EATING LESS

If you want to eat consciously, you can use these practical tips.

  • Make sure you cannot get distracted by anything that has nothing to do with you. meal or has to do with a snack.
  • Take the time to eat your meal, and don't quickly gobble something down in between everything else. 
  • Chew each bite well about 20 times (this also depends a bit on the product you are eating). 
  • While eating, you appreciate every bite by applying TASTE (Temperature, Aroma, Taste, Texture, and Emotion). Evaluate this with every bite, just as if you were in a whole duration The restaurant is open!
